Ocean Modeling and Physical Oceanography Laboratory (OMPOL) at Chonnam National University in Korea focuses on physical oceanic processes. We analyze observation data such as temperature, salinity, currents, ocean color and sea level data. We also use numerical models and ocean data assimilation to understand oceanic processes and to predict future ocean status. The regional ocean modeling systems (ROMS) for the Northwestern Pacific Ocean, the Yellow and East China Sea, Korea Strait, and the East Sea have been used for real time ocean prediction and research at the OMPOL.
